There are two types of buttons used in upholstery. These buttons are used as decorative details on couches, armchairs, ottomans and dining room chairs. They are placed directly on top of the fabric itself. It's common to have a set of rows to create a beautiful vintage and characteristic piece.
We sell the naked molds so that you can cover them yourself with your preferred fabric. They get covered using a button machine.
Normal buttons are referred to the molds with a small hoop at the back. These are traditionally used throughout years and years of upholstery. Unlike clothing buttons these buttons get sewn into place with a large needle and button twine. Button twine is a type of thick string covered in wax.
Prong buttons on the other hand comes with two "tails" at the back. The tails have a sharp end that gets pushed through the fabric and split apart to keep them secure and in place. No thread or button twine needed.
